Public discourse space - "Is it trash or is it art?"

The design of public discourse spaces in such a way that they strengthen the maturity of citizens is up for debate at this event. How do we take responsibility for these spaces & develop them?

As guests at this event, you will experience the "public discourse space" as a multi-layered process - from the direct address in the public space (speakers' corner) to keynote speeches and the evening talk show format (panel discussion) to digital networking (social media content, online articles).

Experiencing and reflecting on analogue and digital discourse spaces forms the basis for taking responsibility for their future development. In this sense, the event refers to urban space as an important democratic space. The aim here is to sensitise a perception that sees more in urban space than just streets and shopping areas.
This also emphasises the origins of democratic discourse in market squares and citizens' assemblies. Furthermore, possible tensions between commerce and art, between politics and the scene are scrutinised. Dialogue design is more important here than "just" designing advertising. Dialogues between city administration and citizens, between artistic design and audience, between marketing and consumers are emphasised as examples in order to ultimately shed light on the basic principle of enlightenment, namely the design of public discourse spaces in such a way that they strengthen the maturity of citizens.
